Favornudes! A quite extensive, obsessive collection of Nude Lipsticks and glosses!

Nude, naked, bare ummm I'm running out of adjectives .....where's my thesaurus ? Geeez haven't seen one of those in years! Do they even make book versions of them anymore? Probably not. Anyway nude is the beauty worlds buzzword of the year. Ever since urban decay dropped their ever so popular Naked palette every Tom, Dick and Harry have been duping it! But alas naked eyes aren't the only coveted nude out there....ahhhh the ever so sort after nude lip! Aside from red it's not only its polar opposite but one of the hardest colors to find. The Pourage of lip color and I am Goldilocks! On my quest to find the perfect one I've come across many that were too pale, to peachy, too pink, too dark, too nude and not nude enough and what I ended up with is a collection of nearly nude lip sticks, glosses and balms that do the job...but I'm still on my quest to find that perfect one!
As if we needed another reason to hate Kim Kardashian, besides her amazing smokey eyes, perfect contouring and flawless complexion her nude lips are always on point ! I do t think anyone else gets it as perfect as her! I tried some of her colors out and they were a bit too pink for me. Her go to nudes are supposedly Mac Angel topped with Nars Turkish delight. They may work for you but they were a bit too pink for me.
Basically nudes show up differently on everyone since we all have our own unique skin tone and our lips carry different levels of pigment. I figured though I can help since I have a very large collection of nude colors because I am addicted to nudes!

To make it a little easier I broke them down into 4 different categories. The word "nude" is a pretty general term to describe pale or natural looking lips. Each nude has its own unique undertone and that's how I broke it down:

PINK NUDES: pretty self explanatory. These nudes tend to have pink colored undertones and go great with cooler colored eyeshadows like pinks, purples, blues, silvery Greys and charcoals.

PEACHY NUDES: these nudes tend to have orangey, tan or Peach colored undertones and go greeat with warmer eye looks like Bronze, gold and warm browns.

NATURAL NUDES: these nudes are not pale and are closer to the actual shade of natural lips...only a little better

BEIGE NUDES: these are the nudes that border on the line of almost being the same color as your skin with beige or brown undertones and are very neutral.

A FEW TIPS FOR DONNING NUDE LIPS:

To make sure you have the perfect canvas for those nude lips there's a few things to do to get the best application. Since nudes that are a shade or so lighter than your actual lip color can get caught up in cracks and dry flakes its always a good idea to exfoliate those lips. You can achieve this by mixing some sugar with a bit of Vaseline, using a toothbrush or a store bought lip exfoliator. I like E.L.F's lip exfoliator. It works better than any I've tried so far and it's only $3!

Also using a lib balm as a base will ensure an even application. I like EOS balm or Baby Lips by Maybelline.

Also another trick to get a nice colorless base is to get a very, very, very light layer of foundation on your lips. Just what's left over from your brush. Your lipstick will show up in a truer to form color because its not contending with your natural lip pigmentation.

Free Lipstick? Lets see....

So a while back a girlfriend of mine told me to hold on to all my Mac empties and once I have 6 of them I can go to my local Mac store and trade them in for a free lipstick! Woooo hoo! So I just happened to have 2 empty creme d'nudes and a lipgloss that I was trying to scrape the crumbs out of so I held on. When I got home I realized I also had this teal eyeshadow (steamy) that I NEVER wore ( just not much of a blue eyeshadow girl) that was just taking up space in my drawer so I scraped out the eyeshadow and put it in an empty contact lens container. One more eyeshadow mythology which I love too! So I was one product short so I dug out an old Nail polish I don't use. I hope nail polish counts! Either way it's a great program! I think all cosmetic companies should do the same. Lets see if it works!

I believe it's called the Back to Mac recycling program and you can google it. I haven't been able to see the actual link on their website from my phone or iPad. Check it out though if you are interested!
I will let you know if it works out!

••••UPDATE••••
Ok so I'm a chicken $h!t a little and I let the overly done up fembots at the Mac store intimidate me sometimes and now I know why the Back to Mac program works in their favor not ours! I felt like a cheap bitch going in there trading in a bunch of old empties for a free lipstick and not buying anything! Oh lord! So since I have been meaning to try a new foundation in which does not involve having skin colored particles strewn about my room I let her do a do a "test" on my face which then turned into her wiping off all my makeup and me walking out looking like one of the Mac fembots and my wallet $30 lighter! She also put this what i thought was way too bright lipcolor on me that i refused to buy but then as i browsed through the mall and checked myself out in the mirrors realized it was a really nice color and i forgot the name! oh well on a side note One thing that pisses me off about the Mac snobs is that they of course think Mac is far superior to every other brand of makeup and they always have to tell you how much whatever it is you already have on sucks and why Mac is soooo much better! Which yes I agree Mac is a wonderful brand but there are many other wonderful brands out there and dare I say....even in the drugstore!
Anyway I decided to muster up the balls to go to the Mac counter in Macy's where there were far less lost looking women and trade in my empties and it was a wam bam Thank you mam situation! Welcome Mac hue to my nude collection!

**TIP OF THE DAY!!!**

Ever go to the MAC store or counter in your local department store and see a really funky color eye shadow or lipstick you don't know if you're daring enough to try for a ridiculous $14.50 a pop??? (Plus you don't want to be hassled by the over done, plastic looking, Mimi from the drew Carey Show girls behind the counter!)

Try a similar color in a less expensive brand such as Wet 'N' Wild or NYX. NYX has a wide array of funky colors you can choose from for 1/3 of the price! Wet 'N' Wild is the cheapest brand out and also has a wide selection of funky colors in eye shadow, lipsticks, and eyeliners. You can buy all 3 and more for the cost of one MAC single eyeshadow pot!

THE LESSON
If your committed to owning MAC products my theory is try before you buy!

First things first.....

Hi all!! MY name is Leanna. This is my first time ever writing an actual blog so bear with me!! I am starting this blog called "Product Junkie" being that I am....well a self proclaimed product junkie! By "product" I mean anything in god's creation that you can use to make yourself look better and feel better about yourself! By day I am a graphic designer/ sign maker and by night I am on a crazy quest to find the best products out there! If you are one of those people who can't go into CVS to pick up some cold medicine or maxi pads without cruising the makeup and hair product aisle then this blog is for you!!

I guess over the years I have become somewhat of a product guru to my friends and family. I am constantly scouring store aisles for the best items out there to improve and or enhance my appearance. I get completely sucked in by commercials claims like "this mascara will make your eye lashes appear 10 times longer & fuller!" or this lotion "will make your skin baby smooth". I probably shouldn't being that I took many advertising/ marketing courses in college that taught me better! Either way, still like anything else in life I need to find out for myself!

So in this blog I will give tips, review products and maybe give some other interesting tid-bits about fashion and beauty!! Bear with me, and excuse my boring appearance for now!! My laptop is getting a makeover and I can not access my graphic design software! I promise a cool look with better graphics will be coming soon!!

Thanks
Leanna

P.S. Also keep in mind that anything I write on here is solely based on my opinion. I in no way shape of form believe myself to be and expert nor am I representing any company. Just a girl who likes to try products!
