So I had 2 Mac eyeshadows that broke. One was an aqua color that I never really cared much for and the other was one of my favorite summer shades Mythology. I used the packaging to get a free lipstick with the Back to Mac recycling program but I didn't want to completely throw away what was left of the shadow so I threw the broken bits into an extra contact lens container I had lying around.
Having those broken bits really doesn't work when you actually want to use the eyeshadow so here's what you can do to get it back in its pressed shadow form....
Here's what you will need:
An empty container.
( Again I used an empty contact lens case but you can use whatever you like, even the original packaging. )
Some sort of mixing tool
(A toothpick, a BBQ squewer, a wooden cuticle stick, back of a thin brush)
Rubbing Alcohol
An Eyedropper
Step 1:
In the container of your choice use the back of a thin clean brush and break down the shadow until its a powder like consistency.
Step 2:
Pour some of the rubbing alcohol and pour it into the cap and then suck some out with the eyedropper and add a few drops to the broken shadow.
Step 3 ;
Mix the eyeshadow and alcohol around. If there appears to be powdery still then you will want to keep adding drops of alcohol until you get a creamy consistency (kind of like a liquid foundation) Keep in mind the more alcohol you add the longer its going to take to evaporate so be prepared to not be able to use your eyeshadow right away or even for a day. Once you feel it's mixed well you will want to tap it a few times on the table or a counter top just to flatten out the surface. Some people like to use a coin to push it down but I would wait until it dries a little for that.
Step 4:
put it off to the side somewhere (leaving it uncovered) and just let nature take its course! I would let it dry over night just to be safe!
Step 5:
Enjoy your shadow once again in its unbroken, not messy normal form!
Now I found this tutorial online I didn't make it up! I'm just passing info along but one thing I was worried about was losing the pigmentation and intensity of your eyeshadow but rest assured your eyeshadow will perform just as good as it did before it broke!
